Q&A(FAQ) What does the information indicated on the nameplate mean?

1. Information Indicated on the Nameplate

The nameplate on the power supply shows the rated output voltage range that has been approved by safety agencies such as UL, CSA, and TÜV.
For example, under UL62368-1, the following items are required.

  1. i.Rated voltage or rated voltage range
  2. ii.Rated frequency or rated frequency range (excluding DC converters)
  3. iii.Rated current
  4. iv.Manufacturer name, trademark, or other identifying marks
  5. v.Model name or type designation

2. Difference Between the Input Voltage Range Indicated on the Nameplate and in the Specifications

The input voltage range shown in the specifications represents the range in which the power supply can be used, and within which its electrical characteristics are guaranteed.
In contrast, the input voltage range indicated on the nameplate represents the rated voltage range approved by safety agencies. Even so, the power supply can be used within the input voltage range defined in the specifications.
