Q&A(FAQ) Withstand Voltage and Insulation Resistance Test Instructions

Please follow the instructions below when performing withstand voltage and insulation resistance tests during incoming inspection.

1. Voltage Application Method

When conducting a withstand voltage test, apply the voltage gradually starting from 0 V, or use a zero-crossing switch to prevent the generation of surge voltage.
Likewise, when turning off the voltage, gradually decrease the applied voltage or switch it off using a zero-crossing switch.

2. Applied voltage

Depending on the type of withstand-voltage tester, the applied voltage waveform may be distorted or excessive voltage may be generated in the circuit. Therefore, please check the applied voltage waveform when performing the withstand-voltage test.

3. Residual voltage

After performing an insulation resistance test, discharge any residual voltage stored in the Y-capacitor using a resistor.

In the withstand-voltage and insulation-resistance tests, L and N are shorted, and +Vout and −Vout are shorted, as shown in Fig. 3.1 through Fig. 3.3.
This test method is based on JEITA RC-9131
