Safety approvals in each country are granted by national certification bodies based on the test results provided by accredited testing laboratories. Many countries maintain their own national safety standards, and products must comply with these standards in order to be sold in those markets.
In the past, IT equipment was evaluated according to the international standard IEC 60950-1. However, many countries adopted their own exceptions and deviations. As a result, even when the test items were essentially the same, manufacturers were required to undergo separate testing in each country, leading to increased time and costs.To address this issue, the CB Scheme was established.
Under the CB Scheme, a CB Test Report issued by one certification body can be used to obtain safety certifications in other participating countries. This eliminates redundant testing and significantly streamlines the certification process.
